Meet the team at Christ Church

Christ Church in Swindon is a Church of England Parish within the Swindon Deanery of the Diocese of Bristol. We serve just under 15,000 people as well as 6 schools and numerous residential care homes. The church is also a long time member of the Swindon Old Town Partnership of Churches.

We manage our daily business in a regular series of meetings throughout the year. You can see what is happening in the calendar on the right

At Christ Church, our team members have a number of specialist areas of responsibility within the Parish and you can see what we each do below:

Simon Stevenette
Simon Stevenette, Vicar

Simon has led the parish as Vicar for the last 17 years and was formerly the Area Dean of Swindon. He is married to Nicola and they have 5 sons - Thomas 25, Robert 23, Edward 21, William 17 and Hugo 12. He had a successful Stem Cell Transplant September 2004 and lived with cancer for 2 years. Simon loves meeting people, working in the community building teams and helping people develop and grow in their spiritual gifting.

He enjoys sport in general especially running and is a member of Chiseldon Tennis club. He is Chaplain of Swindon Town Football Club, Governor of King William Street Church of England Academy and an active member of the Swindon Rotary club You can contact him here.

Margaret 				Williams
Margaret Williams, Lay Minister

She is a retired Head Teacher, originally from Swansea. She is a published author and gifted story teller particularly in all-age worship where her empathy with both young and old is obvious. She loves travel, Welsh culture and entertaining. She is a co-ordinator for Residential Care home visits and a supporter of the healing prayer ministry.In 2015 Margaret was named in the New Year's Honours list as having been made an MBE for services to the Bristol Diocese and the Community of Swindon Contact her here.

Daphne Hardwick Daphne Hardwick, Associate Minister

Daphne is married to Reg, has two grown up daughters and enjoys travelling, meeting with people, sharing hospitality and time with her grandchildren. She was ordained in 2012 after practicing for many years as a midwife and health visitor in the Swindon area. She is passionately interested in social justice issues and actively provides support and links to our young families through our “Young Families Newsletter” and “Bright Lights” Toddler Group Contact her here.

Norma McKemey
Norma McKemey, Associate Minister

She was ordained in 2010 and licensed as an Associate Minister at Christ Church with St. Mary's in 2014. Prior to ordination she spent many years as a Religious Studies secondary schoolteacher. As a Director of DBAT (Diocese of Bristol Academies Trust) and a governor at one of our local schools, education still plays a large part in her life.Her interests include travel, playing golf and spending time with her grandchildren. Anne MacMillan
Anne MacMillan, Lay Minister

Anne is married to Anton , has 2 adult children and enjoys reading, traveling, gardening and meeting up with her family and friends. She retired as a physiotherapist at Prospect Hospice and has a special link with St Mary's and with the Old Town Partnership of churches. Anne is a lay minister and has been a member of the clergy team since 2007.. Contact her here.

Genny Williams
Genny Williams, Lay Minister

Genny is married to Nick, has 3 adult children and enjoys dancing, reading, listening to a wide variety of music and walking her dog, Eric. She retired in the summer of 2020 from The Commonweal School where she taught MFL and mathematics. Genny is a lay minister and has been a member of the clergy team since 2007 Contact her here.

Helen Parker 					Drabble
Helen Parker Drabble, Parish Administrator

Helen has 2 adult children and manages the parish office, co-ordinating all our parish activities. She loves meeting people and is passionate about making connections. Helen is also interested in social research and family history. Contact her here.


Tim Eyles
Tim Eyles, Director of Music

Tim is responsible for service music at Christ Church; playing the organ, directing the robed choir and playing piano in the music group. He has three adult children and works as a freelance piano and organ teacher and choir trainer. In addition, Tim is the pianist in the Stable Yard Jazz Band and takes a deep interest in environmental issues. To find out more about music at Christ Church: Contact him here.

Carol Simmons
Carol Simmons, Parish Clerk

Carol is mum to Elise, David & Bethany. She has a deep love of music and is an active member of several choirs, both in Swindon and further afield, including singing with the choir at Immanuel Church at least once a month. As our Parish Clerk she is the first point of contact for baptism families and wedding couples a role she particularly enjoys. During the day, she works as a Business Support Advisor in Adult Social Care. Contact her here.

Ailsa Palmer
Ailsa Palmer, Lay Minister

She is married to Mike and was previously our parish office manager.She is especially involved in listening to others; and prayer/healing work. She is also interested in linking fair trade, care for the environment and social justice to our everyday lives.

David Day
David Day,

is married to Liz and they have three children and six grandchildren. His first career was as a civil engineer which included working on flood defence schemes on the River Thames (including the Thames and Barking Creek flood barriers) and supervising government projects in Hong Kong. He was ordained in 1990. For the final eleven years before retirement he was the manager of a residential addictions rehabilitation centre, where he still works as a sessional trainer and counsellor. His other interests include reading, particularly about all things naval, archery and walking
