Christ Church with St Mary's is a thriving Christian community, living and working in the
Swindon area in the West of England.
Our Church is over 160 years old and has stood as a beacon on the hill through many changes
from sleepy market town to thriving Railway centre and more lately to buzzing commercial
and economic growth.
Through all this time, Christ Church has been sustained by its faithful friends, both within
the church family and outside it. As well as offering traditional and modern worship,
baptism, marriage, blessing and funeral services, we also
work in the community
providing chaplaincy, bereavement support, prayer ministry, support street pastors and by making home
visits to those unable to get out and about.
This year we are also looking to raise funds towards our Development & Renewal
programme. Our vision is that Christ Church, its community centre and burial grounds
welcome growing numbers of people throughout the week. The renewal work that we
undertake will be guided by an overall strategy of creating sustainable, energy efficient,
environmentally responsible buildings that will be more cost effective to run.
In the church,
we will preserve and restore the original features of the building and enhance its capabilities
to deliver excellent sound, lighting and visual experiences to both church goers and other
visitors. It will provide a warm and adaptable space for worship, exhibitions, meetings and
concerts as well as remaining a place of peace and reflection. We believe that we have a
responsibility to preserve it; not simply as a monument, but as a working, vibrant, educational
and useful place - at the centre of the community.
To help us meet - and if possible increase - this giving commitment please take a moment to
review some of our fund raising options using the links on the left of this page to see how you
can help to support our work.
Donations can also be made by cheque to PCC of Christchurch (if you wish to explicitly
support our Development programme please indicate this).
Any gifts we receive can usually be greatly enhanced by gift aid if you are a UK taxpayer.
