The 1st Christ Church Dog Fun Run, Walk, and Show

Calling all dog lovers! A family friendly charity fundraising event for Christ Church.

Our dogs always need a walk every day so why not have some extra fun at the same time?

To celebrate 10 years of the Community Centre @ Christ Church and in partnership with a group of students from Nova Hreod we have set up an event based on their entrepreneurial idea.

Starting and ending at Christ Church following a fully marshalled course around Lawn Woods. There will be 2 races (registration 10.30am)

1 – Fun walk/ run – 2k – 11.15am start
2 – Competitive run – 5k – 11am start

Costs – £6 per adult, £4 per child, £15 for a family of up to 5 – DOGS GO FREE

Prizes for the winners of each event.

After the race there will be plenty of things to do including a bouncy castle, a fun dog show (best dresses, waggiest tail etc), arts and crafts, glitter tattoos and refreshments (burger van & ice cream/ cakes).

Christ Church Bells 100th Anniversary Peal

On Thursday 11th April at 3pm there is going to be a peal attempt (ringing for 3 hours).

The new bells were cast by the John Taylor Bellfoundry at Loughborough.
They were dedicated by the Bishop of Bristol on 11th April 1924.

These are the bells that have rung at Christ church ever since.

If you are interested in joining the bell ringing team, please contact Ann Eyles at: Bells@Christchurchswindon.co.uk

King William Street School Church Council helped plant native saplings at Christ Church

2024-04-08T15:59:33+01:00

King William Street School Church Council helped plant native saplings at Christ Church

King William Street School Church Council helped plant native saplings at Christ Church, recently as part of the church’s Eco Group’s on-going plan to increase biodiversity within the grounds.

Once grown the saplings will provide shelter and food for birds and small mammals.

Mrs Sarah Prevost, teacher at King William Street School, said the children were very excited to be helping with this project and were looking forward to seeing the saplings grow in future years, into mature trees.

Mrs Anne Grainger, the chair of Christ Church Eco Group said “We are delighted that the children have joined us in this very special project. They are after all “our future” and what we do now to promote and conserve the natural environment for them is vital”.

The saplings were generously donated by the Woodland Trust.

You can find out more about the work of our Eco Group and Eco Church awards on our website here at: https://www.christchurchswindon.co.uk/blog/eco-church/
