Home Group’s Social Evening

2013-01-11T18:13:05+00:00

Saturday 26th January at 7.00pm for 7.30pm in the Church Centre. All home group members and anyone interested in finding out about what happens in Home Groups are warmly invited to a ‘bring & share’ supper at the Church Centre. The evening will be a chance to meet people from other groups and hear (short) presentations about what each group does and plans to do in 2013. Drinks and nibbles will be provided, but we’re asking all Home Groups to get together and provide ‘bring and share’ plates as well – more info on this will come from Home Group Leaders. If you are not currently in a Home Group but want to find out more – please come along. For more info, contact Pam Bridgeman or Anne Macmillan.

Christmas Market

2012-12-30T14:47:00+00:00

The Christmas market held at Christ Church recently was another successful event. Despite poor weather, a large number of locals turned out to support local and national charities, buy gifts for Christmas and have a go at some classic British games such as roll a penny and bagatelle. Santa turned up with his sleigh and the  Church centre was turned into a soup kitchen, tea room and cake shop.

December is a busy time at Christ Church with many visitors – you can see what is going on by downloading our calendar of services and events here.

Nationwide Carols & Canapes

2012-12-30T14:47:17+00:00

On monday evening we had an enjoyable carol concert kindly sponsored by Nationwide Building Society. The programme included some short organ pieces, carols and readings sung by both choir and congregation and the evening was topped off by a feast of canapes and festive drinks in the church. The event raised funds for the development and renewal of Christ Church – we are planning to start building our new Community Centre in Spring.

One of the readings was a poem by Godfrey Rust entitled Herod’s Last Request and a number of people asked if they could hear it again. You can also read the poem here.
