Thy Kingdom Come

2021-05-16T13:43:00+01:00

This is the Archbishop of Canterbury and York call to pray for the Christian faith across our country when we are all encouraged to pray for five friends to become Christians.

Colin Thornton is the Coordinator for Good News 4 Swindon writes…

“I’m very excited about what God will do in Swindon and beyond, as we gather once again from many churches across our town to call on God together. In a nutshell, Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus”.

For more details, see the Thy Kingdom Come website: About Us | Thy Kingdom Come

Please can I now ask you to get the message out as widely as you can, and encourage people to get involved in the following ways:

  • Join the prayer gatherings each day – Thursday 13 May to Friday 21 May – at 08:00, 13:00 and 20:00. These will be led by different churches (see table below), and each gathering will last for half an hour.
  • Join for any part (or all!) of the 24 hours of continuous prayer from 08:00 on Saturday 22 May to 08:00 on Sunday 23 May. This will be divided into half-hour sections, so that it is easy to join and leave, and will be led by people from many different churches and Christian organisations.
  • Let’s gather as many of us as possible for the launch on Thursday 13May from 20:00 to 21:00, and also at a final gathering on Sunday 23 May from 08:00 to 09:00!

The Zoom details for all gatherings are the same – click on this link or enter the meeting ID (991-6078-5935) and password (378539).

Finally, a couple more ways for you to get involved as leaders please:

  • You will see in this table that a couple of the daily prayer slots don’t yet have a leader – if you’re able to step in, please could you contact Nigel Howarth. (nigel.howarth@gcswindon.org.uk)
  • There are still plenty of slots to fill during the 24 hours of continuous prayer – please get involved by signing up via the online form.

NEW EASY & SECURE GIVING – PARISH GIVING SCHEME

2021-04-12T14:31:35+01:00

One of the really important ways that each of us lives our faith and participates in the mission of the Church, is through the act of giving.

While there is joy in the spontaneity of a one-off gift when the Spirit moves us, it is regular giving that offers a prayerful expression of faith in action. Regular giving sustains our church and helps us to plan for the future. That is why Christ Church with St Mary’s is a member of the Parish Giving Scheme (P.G.S.)

The team at P.G.S. makes it safe and easy for you to give regularly, and just as safe and easy for our church to receive them. Every pound you donate can be put to Christian service in your community, free from time-consuming admin for your church staff and volunteers. There’s also an option for you to increase your gift annually to keep pace with the rising cost of living, with the peace of mind that you can adjust your donation at any time if your circumstances change. If you are a UK taxpayer you can opt to add Gift Aid, increasing the value of your donation by 25%, which PGS will collect from HMRC on our behalf and return to Christ Church.

How do I join the PGS?

Now, with the addition of a simple and secure online process, there are three easy ways to donate to your parish through the PGS; you can set up your Direct Debit online, by telephone, or you can fill in a gift form and post it to PGS.

If you would like to make use of the new online service from PGS, you can simply visit https://www.parishgiving.org.uk/donors/find-your-parish/

Our parish code is 050605176 and follow the instructions.

Or you scan the QR code below, which will take you straight to this parish’s landing page on the PGS website, where you can click on the ‘Give now’ button. It couldn’t be easier.

Alternatively, you can set up your regular gift by phoning the PGS team on 0333 002 1271, Monday to Friday, 9-5.
