Kindness and Connection Echo Beyond Church Walls in Swindon

Christ Church Swindon recently celebrated the first anniversary of its weekly Lunch Club — a warm and welcoming community initiative instigated by our Site Manager, Chris Smith, and led by mother-and-daughter team Pat and Toni-Jo. What began as a small idea a year ago has grown into a lifeline of friendship and support for many, particularly those who are lonely or vulnerable.

Marking the milestone with a special three-course meal, guests, volunteers, and even the mayor gathered to honour the club’s impact. Through shared meals, laughter, and new friendships, the Lunch Club has become a shining example of how “kindness and connection can echo beyond church walls.”
