Funerals & Bereavement
A funeral marks the end of a life's journey. Friends and relations gather together to express their grief, celebrate the deceased persons life and commend them into God's care. Our ministry extends beyond this simple final act as we also recognise the value of providing support, encouragement and friendship to the bereaved. We also help those who are dying, prepare for their death and conduct memorial services to give comfort to those who are left behind.
Every death and every funeral is different but they often raise profound fundamental issues about life and death. If you have been affected by a bereavement and would like to talk to someone about it there are a number of options.

People who have lost loved ones often find comfort in being remembered in the thoughts and prayers of others. As a Christian community, we believe passionately in the power of prayer to heal and console. If you would like us to pray for you or someone you have lost then come to Christ Church and post a prayer on our prayer board at the back of church. If you cannot come in person then [ fill in the form here ] and we will post it for you and offer our prayers on your behalf.
Support
us, O Lord
all the day long of this troublous life,
until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes,
the busy world is hushed,
the fever of life is over
and our work is done.
Then, Lord, in your mercy grant us a safe lodging,
a holy rest and peace at the last;
through Christ our Lord
Amen
